How in the hell could you be UNDECIDED???
October 28, 2008 by keepitmovin411
This evening, I had a very disturbing conversation with an African-American friend (no, acquaintance), who shared with me that he/she was STILL UNDECIDED about the Presidential Election!!!
He/she presented the usual, ridiculous rhetoric about our candidate Senator Barack Obama. He doesn’t have enough experience, he’s all talk, it’s not his turn, and, finally the ignorant, backward ass clincher … white folks will never LET HIM become President!
Let HIM??? My instinctive reaction to her statement was … #$%*% are YOU CRAZY?? (Pardon … mon francais)
Instead, I held my tongue and let him/her … or, forget it … her speak her mind. After all, I am firm believer in everyone’s entitlement to their own opinion and voice, without interruption.
HOWEVER, there is a limit to my intellectual generosity when you’re taking up my time … especially when you’re not all that intellectual.
Consequently … shortly into the conversation I repeated in a low growl … “They won’t LET HIM?? (x2) … With or without your confused VOTE … WE won’t let THEM stand in his way!!”
As I’ve said here before, I don’t believe that Senator Obama can win without the full power of the black vote; because the republican redneck brigade is going to come out strong against him … pitchforks, pick-up trucks, and rifles, in tow! Sadly, we’ve seen that before … but, this time we have a choice.
Our only choice is to vote for the change we need. I mean, just look around … this could be our last opportunity to show generations of young black people the power of standing together to make a difference!
HOW COULD THERE BE ANY OTHER DECISION???
I digress … After a short and heated discussion with that idiot … I removed her number from my phone (guess I’m not that open-minded after all), and returned to this blog to let off some steam.
I decided to vote for Senator Barack Obama the day he announced his candidacy, because he is a black man. (funny, how that didn’t work with Sharpton or Jackson)
I chose to vote for Senator Obama later on down the line. My decision to choose him as my candidate was precipitated by his preparedness, his responsiveness, his presence (Wow!) and his ability to communicate an intelligent message that resonates with me, and others, who may not look like me.
This country needs a healing of proportionate measures; we cannot afford the divisiveness offered by the other candidate. When our goals are divided along racial lines … it is always us, who lose.
I’m tired of watching our communities lose! And, I’ll take dedicated and decisive … over dumb and dumber, any day!
